You don't know, because for all intensive purposes, they appear to be awake - awake and completely unhinged. Tommy had a few swats too when I thought he was just being obnoxoius. You try everything to make it stop, just like you would any other time. If it happens again, you'll know what to look for. You're a good mommy, and Christain probably doesn't remember a thing. It's like sleepwalking, except like a screaming, crying lunatic sleepwalking. While you're going nuts trying to figure out what the hell is going on, they're just having a nightmare as far as they're concerned. But you see this little guy out of bed and ranting and raving like their jammies are on fire, you're not thinking "sleepwalker" you're thinking "what in the hell is wrong with you? Get your butt back in bed and knock it off!"
There was one or two times when he could tell me the next morning that he had a bad dream, but that's all he remembered.

Holley, is Christian prone to ear infections? Thats what it sounds like to me! If he has a runny nose it would drain down to his throat, and possiably into his ears also. When Dylan was Christians age, he us to get that way once a year, and around this time of the year! It was always an ear infection with a sore throat. I would take him to the doctor, and have his ears checked! Dylan use to pull on his ears, and thats how I figured it out! I've had 5 children, and all of them did it at one time or another! It gives me shivers just thinking about those sleepless nights not just for me, but for the child too! With Dylan, if he gets really sick, he can't breath, and then it's off to the hospital we go! I think he's grown out of it now thank god! There is nothing worse than your child not being able to breath!! Honey, I think I would tak him to the Doc, and get him checked out!

I thought of night terrors too, luckily neither of mine have ever had one, but I've heard of them. Poor you Jill. But because you said you gave him ibuprofen I don't think it could be those. I doubt (I could be wrong!) you could give anything to a child with night terrors because they aren't awake to swallow it.

My boys have never had ear infections so I doubt it's that. I just wait to see what happens tonight.
