Just thought i'd let everyone know a little about what's been going on in my house. Last week Ethan got a pretty bad cold. he was out of school for three days. Well, since he brings those germs home from school it usually STARTS with him. Saturday, Ethan was better and Christian wasn't exhibiting any signs either so we drove down to San Diego for the weekend. Right when we got there Christian spiked a fever. We ended up driving home. He slept from 5 PM on Sunday until 8 AM Monday and he seems better.
This week my DH has a conference for work so he is gone. notice I didn't say out of town. In fact he is only 30 minutes away, but everyone is required to stay at the hotel. Something to do with camaraderie and stuff.
Last night Christian woke up crying and 1 AM. It wasn't his scared cry, so it wasn't a bad dream. He didn't have a fever, but i thought maybe his throat still hurt a bit and gave him some IBprophen. Anyways, he worked himself into a crying FRENZY! He would NOT stop crying! he cried for 45 minutes straight.I finally was able to calm him down and get him to sleep when he woke up and hour later and the whole thing started all over.
I hate to admit that by that time I was ANGRY and not thinking nice things. I am NOT a pateint person and my DH usually step in when I get like that. Well, DH wasn't home. I left him in their to cry himself to sleep.
The person I felt sorry for was Ethan who had to go to school all day today. Christian and I could take a nap in the afternoon.
Well, I woke up this morning with a pretty sore throat. That's usually how it starts for me. I have also been FREEZING today even though it's in the 70's here. I don't have a fever though. I'm not sure if the muscle ache and fatigue I feel is from lack of sleep but I feel pretty horrible right now.
Anyways, that's what's been going on here lately. DH won't be home until Thursday night and were supposed to go back down to SD this weekend for my BIL's birthday. Hopefully by then I have got some rest and DH doesn't come down with this thing.

Wow Holley, that's terrible. I'm sorry everyone's getting sick. I hope it doesn't last too long and that everyone is better soon. I'm sending prayers and positive thoughts in your direction! *HUG*

Thanks Tina. It wouldn't be so bad if DH was home. We make such a great team. Something usually happens when he's gone. Last time the boys and I got the stomach flu.

Ugg Holley poor you, I hate it when I get sick and dh is away, makes it so hard. I bet Christian's crying last night was the start of him getting sick. I've had nights like that before. Hope you all get better quickly.

Right, sorry I have one of my headaches today, I'm probably not thinking straight. I find unexplained crying at night normally means a sick child.

Well he might have had a lingering sore throat, like I said, but the Ibprophen should have fixed that.

Poor Holley. Sounds like everything's hitting all at once. Is it possible your son is having night terrors? These are WAY cooler than nightmares. (that's sarcasm.) My son got them when he was 2 - 3 yrs old. It lasted about 6 months. It's kind of like a nightmare they can't wake up from. He would scream for "mommy", but mommy was already right there. He looked right at me and screamed for me, hysterical, out of control crying. Each episode lasted almost an hour or so. His dr. said it could stop any time, or go about a year. Thank God it only went 6 mos. I love my son more than life itself, but I swear I thought of many unpleasant ways to make that screaming stop, so don't feel guilty. My dh at the time had to take over for me many times, and I have a ridiculous amount of patience. It's incredibly frustrating to have him shreiking for you while you're right there, and there's nothing in the whole wide world you can do to make it stop until they "snap out of it". (which is basically them falling back into actual sleep) For your sake, I hope he just didn't feel well & was having trouble expressing it. If it keeps up, ask your doc. Maybe there's new stuff they can do now that they didn't have 17 yrs ago. We're here for you to vent to, and believe me, no one is going to judge you - most of us have been there in one way or another!

It was. You feel so helpless and frustrated, because your child is obviously suffering and there's nothing you can say or do to help. Then you get angry at them - that noise level non-stop for an hour will drive you batshit. You feel guilty for feeling angry at them for something they not only can't help or control, but won't even remember in the morning. Then once they fall back to actual sleep, your so wired from the whole episode that you can't get back to sleep, and by the time you do, it's time to get up.
It's hard to wrap your head around the fact that they're walking, talking, screaming, crying and looking right at you, but don't actually see you and often won't let you touch them. I'll never, ever forget it. Thank God his dr. at least knew what it was, no one else I knew had ever heard anything like it. I just hope that's not what's going on with Christian.

Gosh, I hope not too. That sounds like a nightmare for parents and the child.

Oh God I hope that's not it! How horrible for you Jill! i'm glad your doctor knew what it was at least. Now I feel horrible though, because I did scream a bit there at him at the end. ARGH! I might have made it worse even. Christian does have a tendency to be overly dramatic though, so I hope it was just a lingering sore throat and he worked himself up over it. Well if it happens again I'll pay more attention to what's happening. thanks for the info Jill.

I hope it's info you won't need! Lol! Don't feel guilty about yelling at him. Even after I knew what was going on with Tommy, after an hour of him basically screaming in my face, I yelled plenty. It's just self defense at that point! Lol!
