So first my pregnant friend who already has gall bladder problems, gestational diabetes and chicken pox, now is in hospital with vomiting and diarrhea. Then I ring my mum to say come over today instead of tomorrow and she tells me to get off the line as she is calling the ambulance because dad has had a fall in the shed. What kind of fall would need an ambulance! I want to get around there, but I would have to walk. Dh is in town with ds so I rang him and told him to get over there as soon as he could. Dang it what kind of fall would need an ambulance?! He fell of a ladder a year ago and said he wasn't doing anything like that again. This is turning into a right bad day. Edit: He's dislocated his shoulder and they have taken him to the local hospital. Apparently it was just a regular trip over fall, but given his age (80) is why he dislocated it.

Thanks everyone. We rang the hospital it was just a dislocation and they have popped it back and he'll be allowed out tonight. The ambulance guy had mentioned to mum there might have been a crack, so it's good there wasn't. I tried to talk to my friend on the phone there but I was told she is too sick. No one should have to have such a rough pregnancy.

That sucks. I feel bad for your friend. I hope she's better soon! At least it's good news about your dad not having a cracked shoulder. Bones don't heal as quickly when we are older.

Oh dear Jo, glad to her your Dad's shoulder could be safely popped back in, but your friend's pregnancy sounds awful, I hope she feels better soon. How many months is she now?

Thanks guys. She is feeling quite a bit better today, they let her come home at afternoon tea time. She has seven weeks left and is due on the 27th of December, but she is hoping to go early. I would be too! Her dh has the chicken pox as well now.
My dad is home with his arm in a sling. Whatever they gave him made him sick yesterday, but he's doing well now.

Gee Whiz, Jo! I hope everyone stays healthy now! A man I work with - his wife had gall bladder issues at the end of her pregnancy. It ended up becoming infected, and by the time they induced the baby, it had already gotten into her little bloodstream. She (the baby) ended up having fevers and seizures, and spent her first month in the baby intensive care unit. I sure hope they're keeping a close eye on your friend's gall bladder. I didn't want to scare you, but I wanted to pass along what can happen if she ignores the pain and tries to "tough it out" for the baby. The woman was finally able to have her gall bladder removed when the little one came home.
I'm glad dad's shoulder wasn't broken. Dislocated makes you sore, but it's much easier to deal with.

I know she had some test..blood test maybe for her gall bladder and they said it wasn't infected. but that was a few weeks ago now. I'll mention to her about getting it checked again.

I'm glad. I hate to scare anyone, but it's probably something I'd do myself - just try to "be strong" for the baby & carry as long as I could - never thinking that I was actually putting the baby at risk by not telling anyone it was bothering me.

I just sent her an email and copy/pasted what you wrote Jilly. She does get a lot of headaches and stuff which I know she does 'put up with' So yes that bit did concern me.
