Disc defrag is something everybody should do before, and after! Plus shut down your computer inbetween all defrags! Just something I have learned over the years! Disk clean up comes first, and then comes Disc Defrag! Harely has a good program, He interduced me to this, and it works like a dream!! www.iobit.com/ You can make you own choices, but my computer is perfect! So thank You Harely!!

disk defragmenter, ok I'll get dh on that. For whatever reason the game did not want to 'be sent' from my computer to my portable hard drive. It would start and then it kept saying it couldn't find the location so we did a copy paste. We tried two portables and both did the same thing. Does that mean I have a bad file in the game? Lynda are you still there? DH says what was wrong with the program to defrag that came with your computer and why is that one better?

Jo, the defragmenter that comes with Vista is CRAP. It won't let you see the activity of the actual degragging like XP did. I use the iobit defragmenter and it works great! You can even set it to defrag and then turn off your computer when it's done.
Speaking of anit-virus programs, make sure that is OFF before trying to install the sims two as well. Oh and... there is now an update for The Sims 3. If it asks if you want it, tell it NO! Now, every time I open my game, it asks me and I cancel it because I went to the sims 3 site to read about it and some folks are having problems with there games when they were NOT before. So, it's probably better to wait for a while until that is ironed out.
Lynda, I don't know why you can't uninstall your anti-virus program. What kind is it?

No! I didn't say don't install the game! I said don't let it install the UPDATE it will say is available. It's causing some people problems they didn't have before and it doesn't really address many issues. Install that game, Woman, and PLAY! Have fun and then try to make a simself to put in the simselves thread. *blows a raspberrry at Jo's DH*

So what happened with your anti-virus problem, Lynda? Is this on your computer and is it Mcaffee? Harley says that program is impossible to get off without using a tool called, 'Kill Mcaffee. It comes on LOTS of new computers these days. Why they don't want you to remove it is beyond me.

Late to the party! I already took the update. I wasn't having problems before, and I'm still not, so all is well in my sim world! I'm putting more pic spam in my dh thread & my Lolita thread. DH finally came home Thursday night, so I've had a bunch of catching up to do! Congrats, Jo! Enjoy!
