I had the pleasure of helping out a friend and watching her 10 month old son today. So, yeah! I am DONE having kids. No more, no way no how!

The worst time baby sitting I had was my friends 5 month old (Going back 6 1/2 years as they are both my daughter and her's 7 years old now) She cried and cried and cried and didn't sleep. She was a 'terrible' baby though, I knew it before hand.

Oh I LOVE babies! I love to cuddle them, play with them, and then hand them back to mommy and daddy! Sometimes when I look at a little baby, I get a burning motherly instinct that makes me wish I had another one. But then I remember the annoying times as well as the good ones and it makes remember that I'd rather just wait for grandbabies at this point...LOL

My friends baby just cried, cried if it was cuddled, cried if feed, cried if played, cried if put to bed. Longest 3 hours ever. But she cried a lot for her parents too. Strange thing is she is such an easy kid now.

He was mostly a good baby. It really wasn't his fault. He is still breastfeed and she rocks him to sleep. So, even though he does eat solid food, he wasn't wanting much and I don't own a rocker anymore. Poor guy. I picked him up and rocked him in my arms and he was out in a minute.
I really don't understand why mothers don't train their children to sooth themselves to sleep. Both my kids were trained to sooth themselves. I would rock them a bit and put them to sleep when they were still awake. Sometimes they would cry a bit, but they learned to put themselves to sleep. I know Moms whose kids still sleep with them in bed!

Oh man, I babysat a newborn like that once. It was a night job too and it about drove me nuts! I had to stand and walk with the baby, patting his back to keep him quiet enough so the rest of my family could sleep. Good for them; bad for me...lol. I think babies like that have serious stomach gas problems.

I always put mine to bed still awake, but my friend did the family bed thing with both of hers. I don't mind what people do so long as they don't tell me what to do Unless there like those neighbors who let little kids run around at 3am.

My friend looked into reflux but was given the all clear. I always thought even so, they can get silent reflux or gas or something. I guess she out grew whatever it was poor kid.

They only call it colic up to 4 months here. She cried probably up to 9 months or longer and it gradually tapered off. I still think it was reflux, by then she was sitting and standing which I think helped.

I've done quite a bit of babysitting, but I've been lucky and never had colic or unsettled kids to look after. Little kids love me, I don't know why, maybe it's my size? Or because I get down on their level, but they're always crawling all over me, fighting who gets to sit beside me.
