Well I just uploaded part B tonight and the ratings have already been fiddled with. Was it here or Boolprop that said downraters will rate up then way down to achieve a stickier downrating?

Any way I had only just uploaded and was reuploading to amend a couple of mistakes when I noticed the rating had already gone up to something like 3.88 (showed 4 stars) a weird amount. The first five star rating gives 3.57. Now I know Lark had already read it and left a comment on Boolprop. I asume she left a 5 star rating. So I thought sopmeone else has rated me as well. Wow doing well!
Refresh it to check my reuploading and it's now back down to 3 stars at 3.22. Does that smell fishy to anyone else?
This is all roughly in the last hour since I uploaded!

Sounds crazy to me. WTF? I've noticed a few weird things about my stories sometimes when I've just uploaded too. Someone must get a thrill out of doing those silly sort of things..

well,it shouldn't surprise you.people are crazy (and mean).my sims have got downrated two times.the first time i deleted them.but then i was like:"that's what they want" so i re-uploaded them.and they got downrated again.so i waited for a couple of days,and then all of them were back to four stars (and Laiserk to five.woot!).anyway,you should wait and sooner or later you will get what you deserve.=)

You are right Star... people definitely can be mean. Too bad they don't get some holiday cheer and be nice for at least a little while.

I know they can be mean, It only surprised me because it happened so fast.
I had 33 stories downloaded one time overnight. Some of them have never recovered. All those old ones (which ok weren't great but wern't terrible) are sitting on 3 still. Before the huge downrating they were 4, and the 4 ones were 5. It just amazes me that anybody would have so little life as to sit there and wait for 33 of my stories to load just to downrate them.

I gave you 5 stars because I LOVE how your story is going!
I have actually downrated people before... it doesn't seem fair to give everyone a 5 for doing a good job AND give people a 5 (or ignore them) for a not-so-good job. But the only time I downrate is when the story is full of teen speak or if it's 5 pages of NOTHING. (in other words- I have given about 100+ 4-5 ratings, and maybe a few bad ratings)

If I don't like a story/think the person took no care then I just don't bother to rate. The only time I did give a lower rating was for those horrible stories full of cursing/rape etc. Those I marked down as 1 star!

If someone thinks my stuff really suxs I would rather they just didn't rate it. But if they give it a 4 because they think that's what it worth then thats fine too. I know not everyone likes Legacy's. That's totally different to those people who sit there and downrate to be mean and nasty because they can.

Yea. There's a difference between someone actually reading it and not thinking it's worth five stars than someone actually sitting there, not reading and giving one star just to ruin your day. It happened to me too... three times! The first time was the worst though. Almost all my stuff had five stars and some of it had a very HIGH five-star rating. I even had a few sims uploaded at the time.

I went to bed and the next morning when I woke up and logged onto the my page, I saw that EVERYTHING had lost 1-3 stars OVERNIGHT, even my poor simmies were not safe. The very next day, most of my sims were culled. Some people are under the impression that stories get culled for bad ratings, but they don't. I think some of the ones who do that sort of thing thinks they are going to get people's stories culled by down rating them and it gives some sort of power trip or something.

I'm with you, Jo. I just don't understand why someone has so little to do with their time that they'd want to sit there and keep loading pages just to down rate someone's stuff. Especially when the person in question is a stranger and never did a darned thing to hurt you.

Speaking of grumpy... man I am SO tired that I'm feeling a bit grumpy myself. Soon I'm going to bed and maybe I'll actually be able to fall asleep. I have probably had a total 10 hours sleep the last two days. It's starting to get to me... bigtime! *starts pulling hair out and giggling madly*

I try not to look at my story ratings, now that I know stories aren't culled. I just pay attention to the comments I get, here or on the exchange. They tell me exactly what people like or didn't like, and then I can use those comments to make my stories better. If a person cares enough to put into words how they feel, then they count in my book, good or bad. Someone who just clicks a random button & stays hidden - I don't concern myself with people like that, and you shouldn't either! If you've got fans, yo're doing something right!

There's a reason I guess for us not to care about the ratings we get on our stories/sims/etc but I guess we all have the tendancy to care. Well, anywho...

Darn dem downraters!

But... on a lighter note, think, if they really want to take the time to downrate your stories that much, that might mean you should feel honored in a sense. Um... in a weird, kinda way.
