Sorry it took me so long.
) I ended up changing just two things - see if you can spot 'em...
I combined the regular makeover and sick day entries into one. Go ahead and dock me for possibly not having proper pictures. I'm just glad it's over.
His dreams about Circe were becoming evermore disturbing, and Nervous took it as a sign that after all these years, it was finally time to leave the Beaker residence.
"Have you been out shopping? What's with the new clothes?"
"I'm starting fresh, getting my own place. I-I'm moving out."
"You... moving
out? We have an agreement, Nervous. You agreed to assist me with my medical research, and I agreed to take care of you. Have I not taken care of you, Nervous?"
"I-I'm sorry, but this... arrangement is no longer working for me."
"... I see. Okay. Sure, go ahead, there are no locks on the doors here. Go experience the world, and if it doesn't work out,"
which it won't, she chuckled knowingly to herself "you're always welcome to come back."
"Th-thank you," Nervous said, bewildered at how easy this was turning out to be.
"Just one favor to ask first: a new medicine I'm developing needs testing, and in return you can take anything from the house as my... housewarming gift to you."
Nervous sighed in resignation. "Okay... deal."
"Oh, and you didn't answer my question. Did I not take care of you, in fact very
good care of you?"
"Um, yes ma'am."
"Good, I'm glad to hear it. Loki dear, it's my turn!"
"Dearest, let me again emphasize the importance of a sufficient incubation period..."
"Not now! Nervous is leaving us, I have no time to waste."
"Circe!"
"I've got it handled!"*glug gulp*
"Stupid! I am such an idiot for trusting her!" *cough choke blarghhh*
"See, this is why I'm leaving! It's only a matter of time before you get me killed!"
"Calm down, Loki was probably right, I should have let it incubate a bit longer. Why don't you go to your room and lie down, and I'll check on you in the morning."
"I am not going to lie down, I'm moving out. And maybe I'll tell the hospital how you like to practice on gullible subjects in your spare time."
"After all we've..! Don't waste your breath, my colleagues would
never believe someone like you."
Nervous knew she was right, and with a tired sigh said, "Goodbye, I'm going now."
"Goodbye. Get out."
"Is the parting gift you offered still on the table if I agree not to tell the hospital anything?"
"... Fine, but my equipment is off limits."
"I don't want your equipment, I never want to lay eyes on it again."
Later that afternoon:
"Good riddance to bad rubbish," Circe said, scoffing at the idea she would miss having Nervous around.
"Don't be too hard on the boy, wouldn't surprise me if he makes his way back some day."
"That's what I think too!" she said, brightening a little.
"How about we celebrate being empty-nesters and have dinner out?"
"Excellent idea. Someplace nice, please."
"Meet downstairs in our fancy clothes in an hour?"
"One hour sharp!"
*Gasp* "He... he didn't..."
"Heheh, I'm sure she won't miss these. C'mon, poochies, time to go inside and chillax..."
