With my rice salad I've been trying for years to recreate the original dressing-dh says it's still not right, but it still tastes good. The potato salad was a bit bland in my opinion although it all went and dh said it was fine. Amy I didn't realize you were a vegetarian-or I did and forgot. Both my salads are as I need it for my BIL who is a vegetarian so I can’t add bacon or the anchovy paste the recipe had. (not that I like anchovies) , plus the rice and potato is filling enough for him without the meat. I think next time I will double the chopped gherkins and chives and maybe add a little bit of mustard. Otherwise the mayo and plain yogurt dressing was rather nice. I liked that it was less vinegary Apart from the trifle I always buy a plum pudding as well. Old traditions die hard.

Eh.. Amy is vegetarian? I thought she had turkey, heh. Wow, seems like you guys had a lovely dinner! (I actually thought turkeys were for Thanksgiving, heh.) And the trifle! It sounds like an absolute delight!! (I spell it Jelly too, hehe) Omgosh, maybe I should make some for my family, hehe. Mustard, though, is. :X I guess you guys enjoy wasabi too? (I can't stand both, haha!)

She did have turkey, but I think apart from her Christmas turkey she is a vegetarian. Turkeys are for Thanksgiving-for Americans. I'm Australian and Amy is English so... I love mustard, but not on things, only in certain dishes to add some flavour. I had to look up wasabi. So ermm cabbage? I still don't know! I'm not a fan of cabbage, although dh family is being German. His favourite dish is this German cabbage with meatballs, and it has vinegar. Horrible.

Yeah, I'm a vegetarian 364 days of the year (or 365 this year as it was a leap year...). Turkey is my weakness haha. We have turkey at Christmas, but I think it's a tradition stolen from the American thanksgiving, the English used to eat goose in the olden days. I'm not keen on wasabi, we had wasabi peanuts which were bizarre. Mustard I only like in weak form, the taste is too strong for me usually. The thing I love at Christmas is Stilton cheese. My boyfriend's Grandma bought some just for me. I don't mention being vegetarian much, but I remember my simself being in one of your simself parties and getting special vegetarian food, Jo. It makes me laugh that all my sims are vegetarian too as they're all under the Grilled Cheese rules.

Wasabi is related to horseradish, I think. I like both wasabi (in small doses) and horseradish. Although the horseradish is almost certainly a Jewish thing, not an American thing. I've met very few non-Jews who had any experience with it. Turkeys are American birds -- they're not native to Europe, so of course they'd be an American thing.

Says the woman who loves Stilton cheese! When you use mustard in cooking it doesn’t normally taste like mustard anymore. Amy, I knew I wasn't imagining that then. Good. I decided Joanne Mobacy was a vegetarian a long time ago so I put in a few defaults. Some though are in name only such as tofu turkey replacement which looks like a turkey to me! Good thing too, that sounds terrible! My 'ham' sandwiches though are tomato sandwiches and they are both in looks and name and I pretend they are cheese and tomato, which I like. (why would they not put in cheese?) Esme, I meant we eat turkey and it has nothing to do with thanksgiving. It's mostly only eaten at Christmas although it can be bought at other timer. There are plenty of turkeys, both farmed and wild scrub ones over here. Does any of this make sense? I think I have clicked edit four times now...I need to get to bed.

It's a different kind of strong, I can't manage spices but anything with a particular strong taste I like: stilton, fish and seafood, that sort of thing. Yes, some of the sim replacement foods just seem like it's the same food with the name edited to put tofu etc in it. I like getting my sims to eat things like the chef salad and grilled cheese and fish, I still eat fish. I love seasons for that, nothing like home grown vegetables and fresh fish. ;D We're finally starting our vegetable patch next month.

From wikipedia: {Wasabi's} root is used as a condiment and has an extremely strong flavor. Its hotness is more akin to that of a hot mustard than that of the capsaicin in a chili pepper, producing vapours that stimulate the nasal passages more than the tongue.I think they meant "burn" instead of stimulate. >_> A different kind of strong, indeed! I hate Wasabi/mustard, but I LOVE Indian curries!!! The mere thought of it makes me excited, hahaha! A vegetable patch! I'm hoping my future home would have something like that too! Or at least a mini herb "garden" with the different pots of herbs along the kitchen window. ^^

I have the herb window sill too. Just chives and oregano at the moment, because I don't use them much. It's taken us a year to get the vegetable patch ready to grow vegetables in, I got a book on what to plant when and how for Christmas, so hopefully something will work. I'm not very good with spicy curries, but then we have paneer cheese or chickpeas in ours rather than meat, and I don't think they absorb the spice as much.
