We got a Blu-Ray DVD player as a house warming gift from my Brother in Law. I am torn between playing my Sims or Watching Captain Jack Sparrow in HiDef.....What's a girl to do?

Blu-ray, huh? Sounds interesting... I've always wondered if there's really a noticable difference between that and regular high def discs.  I won't be finding out for a while though because we already enough electronics (quite a few just gathering dust) in this house!  Wow... that's a NICE gift anyway! |

Yes it was very nice. My bro in Law is single, so he dotes on his nephews.
I didn't think there was a much of a difference until I watched WALL-E... there is a difference.

Very noticable difference in vidio and audio I hear...... But the disks are redicklous to purchase....... |

I don't know the particulars, I am not a techno geek...
Wait I know this...
There was Blu-Ray and HDDVD. Then one of the major studios (Disney, Dreamworks, i can't remember who) signed an contract with Sony (who made blu-ray) that they would use blu-ray, so the company that made HDDVD couldn't compete so everything is Blu-Ray now...
Did that make sense?

Nope!  Actually I heard something about that. I knew they got rid of one of them. It sure got confusing there for a while. My mom bought my daughter a blue ray dvd last Christmas and we didn't realize it until we opened it and found out it wouldn't play in our player...lol |

You can play regular DVD's in a Blu-Ray but not a Blu-Ray DVD in a regular player...
And Harley is right, they are a lot more expensive.
