Ohh, I'd love some real Mexican food. The other half is a So. Cal native and we're in Maine and we don't have much for REAL Mexican food here. We went to TJ once and we ate at a filthy hole-in-the-wall place but the food was cheap and delicious. His father yelled at him for taking me there. We DO have Baja Fresh in Boston so it might be worth a day trip there!

I lived in So. California for about two years when I was in my early twenties and never even once crossed the border. I think it would have been really cool though. Did go to SF and Oakland a couple times. I have an old picture of me with Alcatraz in the background.

That sounds cool! ;D
I've never been to Mexico, I tried to go with a friend but my rents wouldn't let me...

I don't blame them! I wouldn't let my daughters go to Mexico without me either.

I was freshly 21 when I went to CA the first time, and mother was antsy about it- I flew out of the airport that was waiting for JFK Jr to return from his flight that very day. Ooops. (I have a few flying horror stories!!!) But on another trip, we took ma with us, and she will NEVER go back to Mexico again. She only got to see the border, which is awful- I won't mention the sad stuff... but if you get past that, like to Rosarito (sp?) Beach, it's nice.

California is a pretty wild place. It was almost like a different world to me back then. I did get to go to Disney Land though. That was fun! ;D Finally got to go to Mexico during a cruise. We had ONE margarita at a restaurant and it's a good thing we didn't have two or we'd have never found our way back to the ship!
