How do you overcome the times when you just get bored with your cute little simmies? I know a few things people say to do: 1. Try a challenge 2. Start a legacy. 3. Don't use any cheats. And so on and so forth, but ... what if none of those things really appeal to you at the moment and the idea of even firing up the game makes you nauseous? What if you REALLY need to do so if for nothing else than to get busy on a story that your millions (hahaha), of adoring fans has been waiting forever to read? In other words: Help! LOL

Tina I think I'm at that point and it scares me. Guess I'm getting over the addiction.

Sometimes I take a break from the story & go on a building spree. I'll do something specific that I need for my hood, or else I'll pop over to the BBS & find something in a building challenge that suits me. They're quick, pretty easy on rules, and gives me ideas I might not have thought of on my own. The last ones I played with were by Namplayer8 (I think I got that right) who does theme lot challenges, usually on a 1x1 specialty lot. One was "fantasy lots", and I built one of my favorite houses for a werewolf. (I included the were - he's pretty hot) It was just dumb luck that I hit on a layout that worked, and I got a new simmie that I really like out of the deal, too. I never could get that house to upload, sadly. I had to do a story tour, and put it up that way.
Also, while trolling the BBS, or now this forum, I see something about the game I didn't know - Jo's Mobacy taught me so much about Uni that I didn't know! And the mediation & snap dragon things? I want to take a family & try this stuff out! I might make a college sim & send them thru Uni, just to see it all. (I've never played a sim all the way thru it) Sometimes, just stopping by a house you haven't had time to play is a nice break. Just playing. I forget what that's like! Lol!

Even though I am not what you call a builder, I have done that. Or better for me is to take an exsisting house and either decorate the inside or landscape outside. I think I am better at those things then building. What did you think of Ray-Rays house? (cough cough, you do realize there is a new chapter up ) I thought their house turned out pretty good. So far with my legacy I'm not bored. Having different house's plus the buisness helps keep it intresting. Also I don't tend to play much beyond where I am with the story. Of course Tina you do have a new EP, a sure bordem fighter..

Thank you everyone for your cool ideas! They are MUCH appreciated. Actually one of my REAL problems is that I haven't actually 'played' the game in quite a long time. I fire it up to do story-related things and that's about it. Maybe, just maybe, firing up to just play would help get me back into the story-writing mood but... I don't know. I'm going to MAKE myself do it one way or another now that I can again. I've definitely had a long enough break from it. Jo, you are SO right and as soon as my new computer is built, I am thinking of biting the bullet and installing AL. I'm sure it will remove the boredom for a while! Pixx, you said your thinking of getting a new expansion. That would go a long way to perking up your sim interest a bit too, I'll bet.

Another super fun idea I just remembered is to add some simselves and go play them in a house. Simselves are fun

Thought I posted something else here...
Oh...I'm getting over my writer's block with Silence but can't for the life of me come up with an idea for RTD. Like...I started it but then...drifted back off into the clouds.

Well Pixx, I'm going to make it a point to read that story over coffee in the morning! If I think of any ideas afterward, I'll lay'em on ya!

I admit dfuring the summer I thought of abandonning my simmies to their fate. I have a lot of games and barely play them. But I discovered the wonderful world of story writting and since then I abandonned all my games for my sims. I also kept my interest in my game by trying to keep playing with a family. Usually I make a sim who gets married, they have a kid and HOP never play with them again ... I have a lot of poor abandonned sims somewhere in my neighborhoods probably scared and lonely poor them... hehe

hey Tina if you think of any cool ideas for me holler out, lol I am kind of at that place where I don't know what to do. Weird thing is I do have some plot for a chapter ahead of the next one, but nothing really for the immediate one. One I finish editing this current one I am going to be fishing for ideas.

I feel bad about my abandoned simmies, too! I filled every inch of Strangetown with houses - not an empty one to be found. All those simmies I loved so much - stuck out there mid-life, while I moved on to Moon Island. All new Simmies, lots, and lives. Moving to a new hood is a good way to get over the boredom. Jo, are you really going to use every "special" sim in your legacy? I have a house in Strangetown that had one of each, plantsim, vamp, were, servo, bigfoot, alien, & zombie. I miss that house. *sniff* Since FT didn't really have one (unless you made a playable Genie like I did), that just leaves a witch. Bored simmers could always do a Legend house like that, with the EP's they have.

Well, I'm not so much bored anymore as frustrated after all the computer mess...lol I'm getting ready soon to start installing the game on this computer and see how it does. Jo, after reading Pixx's story this morning, I had nothin'! I told her I was feeling pretty brain dead. I'll have another look over your last chapter and see if anything pops into mind though. Sometimes something will, but others it feels like nothing but fuzz is in my head! I know what you mean about the stories Mae. That's about all I've done since I've been writing this latest one. I have just sat and enjoyed playing at all! Jilly, now that WOULD make for an interesting family!

Well now my games are installed, but I have one horrible, king-sized headache! Hopefully it will go away soon, but I'll likely need a nap for that to happen because I was up until 4:00am obsessing over computer issues.

The whole point of playing the game is for you to enjoy it! When I get bored and the ideas you mentioned don't work, I also go into a building frenzy, and I get tons of custom content. Daydreaming works, too... I've made some great stories (never uploaded) based on dreams and fantasies!
