Am I an idiot? I don't understand. Does that say they're basically using the same thing they use now - Suckyrom? I notice they went out of their way not to name it.

Well that's what I mean-what do they mean by that? Are they saying there using something else? I heard they had a contract with Sony (is that the right name?) for this sucyrom stuff.
If they are dropping sucyrom then halialuya! But if it is wouldn't they come out and so so clearly. Personally I wouldn't trust EA any further then I could throw them.

Maybe they're just saying that so that we won't "Annoy" them anymore. -_-;

I'm with Lily. It sounds like they're misleading without outright lying.

Sounds like a load of double talk to me. I have NO CLUE WTH they're on about it and I wouldn't trust them as far as I can toss an elephant! Does sound like they're just trying to get the hounds away from their doorstep to me.

I can't believe they would even make a press release like that. It must've cost them some money to publically announce...absolutely nothing.

At first glance, that statement will fool a lot of people into thinking they've gotten rid of SecuROM, even if they haven't. SecuROM is a disc-based copy protection too and you don't have to be online to play the game. I AM glad to know you won't have to be online to play The Sims 3 though. That would totally bite!
But that does't change the fact that the statement they made just seems to me like a way to 'call off the dogs'...lol.

Exactly! And this would be why I'm waiting for my dear minions (Achem, FRIENDS!) to buy the game and get back to me on whether it is trustworthy or not. I don't want my computer to burst into flames!

Yea, no kidding...lol. Those dudes at EAxis are some smooth talkers alright. If they were getting rid of suckyROM, why not just come right out and say so? That is the thing that grabs me. They just come out and talk in circles, hoping that everyone will assume that SecuROM is going away. And it seems to be working in lots of cases.

Well, the Maxoids have said that they can say there won't be SecuROM, however I emailed EA and the response I got was that because it hasn't been publicly announced what DRM will be used they couldn't say anything. They said that it hasn't been decided yet what DRM would be used, but that it would be announced when it was. *shrug* so who knows what that means. However, there was an interview I read on a game site with Rod Humble and they were talking about how Spore has an abnormal priracy rate and the reason most torrent sites list for the high piracy is to avoid SecuROM.

::)Well it sounds like SecuROM is having the reverse affect that EA did not want! ::)Fools! As,it was suppose to stop piracy! Looks like that went well!!!!! & in the process they lose loyal & faithful customers, because of SecuROM, it sounds like an expensive balls-up,& to top it off losing customers in droves can't help much

Well, the smart folks at MATY do not seem to think SecuROM is out of the picture. JM Pescado says they'll likely just keep the disc-based SecuROM that is already in TS2. Rod Humble has definitely NOT said there will be no SecuROM, but the articles that have been written are assuming that's what he meant.
I'm taking the wait-and-see approach. I'll believe it when I see it.

I agree. If they said they will announce what they're doing when it's official, then I'm waiting until they officialy call it by name.

Yep these were all my thoughts exactly. I am going to wait and see. I bet there are going to be plenty of fire works going off once people start playing it.
