Oh yea.... I've seen before. I'm not really sure what I think. On the one hand, it doesn't bother me because everywhere you look you see advertisements, but then on the other.... It's pushing the advertising game a bit too far! I mean, what if a person doesn't want see RL ads in a game they paid $70.00 dollars or so for? But it's all about that almighty simolean!  One thing I know for sure is that an ad in my game is NOT going to make me want to go out and buy that product. |

honeslty I don't mind if they advertise things in the game. After all I know I am responsible enough not to rush to the store to buy everything I saw in the game. But that's just me  |

I'm not sure I mind it, as long as it doesn't slow down the game.
I am trying to convince my DH we need a new PC. It will probably be awhile since we are about to buy a house...

I guess I really don't care... Most likely, I've already heard of the product anyway. I don't see the big deal. If EA/Maxis wants to get money for that, fine. Maybe then they'll stop such scams as the sims 2 store... THAT was a rip off.  |

I don't mind it, hopefully it will help keep our cost down if EA gets $$$ from more advertisers. Plus, there's some cool cc that can come our way from it - like the Ford cars in the game, coke vending machines, etc. Me likey cc. Mwaaa haaa haaa! *down cc monster! that's another thread!*

Well, I doubt it will keep our costs down. Right now, the sims 3 is selling preorders at $70.00 a pop!  I don't know if it will be less when the game actually comes out though because what I saw is the special edition with bonus junk. Even with the bonuses, I don't see where it should cost seventy freakin' dollars though!

Yeah, I saw they "give" you a flash drive with it, which I'm sure packs $20 onto the price. PLus, all the stores will have it on sale the week it comes out. I never preorder, cuz the stores all offer an exclusive download that you can get from them. My Target store still has Ikea sp's that have a red chair download sticker on them. Also, one of the benefits of waiting is the eventual price reduction.

I recognize this post! Yea, when I saw that article I was like...that's really weird. Then I was thinking, it would be kinda interesting if our sims could buy smuckers jam. I don't have any feelings for the stuff, but it would be interesting if a little thought bubble came up and the sim was thinking "I could really go for Smucker's Strawberry Jam right now." Especially if they had just seen an ad for it. Ha! Just to prove the mindlessness of our simmies.
Uhm, another part of me is a little offended, I admit. It's kinda...I dunno...insulting. Like they are just perverting another aspect of the game that we're all kinda addicted to. *sigh* Okay, at least I am.

In a way, I guess, it could be offensive just for the fact that you know those businesses being advertised are paying for that privelege, but you do you think that will be reflected in the price when they sell the game to us? Ha! I doubt it. If we have to see 'commercials' in the game, the least they could do would be to lower the price a bit. Although it would be cool if they have some fast food joints or something so that our simmies didn't have sit down in full serve restaurants just to fill their tummies on community lots! ;D |

Yeah, like the special food carts from Sims 1 - McDonald's & Pizza Hut were they? (Like Yoda backwards talking I am?) I love stuff like that - I don't know why, but I do! I'd like it if they had tie-ins too, like sim happy meals, or codes on cups for downloadable outfits or something. (my happy meal toy problem rears it's ugly head once again...)
