Hey guys, I have just learned that the release of The Sims 3 has been delayed until June 2! It is posted on the official website. I had heard rumours of a delay before, but now it's official! I actually think this is a GOOD thing. It gives them time to iron out more bugs and it gives simmers the chance to really enjoy The Sims 2 now that it is complete with all its expansions. What do you think?

I think it's good but I doubt the lazy EAxis is going to iron out any bugs. Why is it delayed exactly???

My guess is there was a bug so big and nasty that even EA had to fix it up. I can just see them sitting around the confrence table-
"Well Bill should we release it, the bug only destroys entire house and families when they go to the letter box, whats a small letter box bomb"
"Gee I don't know Guss, err maybe 1000000 customers would complain instead of only 10,000"
"Customers sheesh! They pay $100 for a game and expect it to work!"

That sounds about right Jo! I don't know why Pixx. I only saw the changed release date the The Sims 3 website.

What?? june 2??? okay let's hope they will make it better than maybe it's a good news!!! it's probably because the testers found a lot of programmation problems (sorry if it's not the good term).

I think it's a really good thing actually. Feb was a bit too soon after finishing up The Sims 2 for my taste. I haven't seen anything yet as to why there is a delay, but I have the feeling it was all a marketing ploy to generate more interest and excitement for the game. There was probably never any REAL intention of releasing the game this month. It's probably what happened with The Sims 2 also. It all seems like too much of a coincidence to me.

probably. but maybe they didn't finish it the way they wanted. Or maybe it's just the "good nature" in me that can't see EA trying to fool us Anyway i just read a tread on the BBS and it made me laugh. They want people to boycott the game. C'mon, being delayed is a good thing I'm sure of it. Better be delayed than let people buy crap.

@jo! Oh yea.. you bet there will be bugs no matter how long they delay the release, Mae, you really ARE too trusting if you believe that EAxis has OUR best interests at heart. They are business and they are out to make money and they have experts that know just how to get that done. The economy sucks right now and I think they want to wait until they can get the best possible start for their new venture. I also saw that on the BBS and thought how stupid it was. For one thing, you can't boycott something that isn't even for sell yet! Besides that, people will do what they're going to do anyway. These days a good old-fashioned boycott like 'The Boston Tea Party' would be nearly impossible!

Yes I know I am too trusting on that one but I don't know... Okay yeah I know EA wants to make money and I admit I have am a little angry (not because of TS3 but because of their stupid ea downloader, I bought a game and stupid stuff is available only for 2 months I think ....) anyway I'll still buy it when it comes out hehe people must have heard about the boston tea party in their history class and thought they could do the same thing. Funny It will never ever work now. Silly people didn't they heard about the rest of the world??

LOL@Holley! It's almost how I feel, but not quite. I AM curious, but I'm not anxious to rush out and buy it. I am content to wait and see what the rest of the simming world thinks about it first. I do feel it's silly to be totally upset about the delay though. I mean, what the hell? You JUST NOW got a complete game with all the expansions so now that any hacks you may have will be up to date and you can get your game just the way you want it, yet people are SO spoiled that they think they have to have something totally new right now. Then I've read about people who have already uninstalled The Sims 2 and sold their games in anticipation of The Sims 3! I find this totally, ridiculously stupid! What's up with that? Haven't they heard that 'A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush?' I have sunk TOO much money into this game to just get rid of it that way. Those people are nuts!

I just can't resist posting this little 'tidbit' here as well: seekingalpha.com/article/118325-electronic-arts-inc-f3q09-qtr-end-12-31-08-earnings-call-transcript?page=1Here is one the statements that really caught my eye from this page: "We are disappointed with our holiday quarter and our FY09 performance. These results point to three conclusions, which are incorporated into our strategies going forward. First, we need to improve our approach to bringing key titles to market. Consumers have become more cautious and we need longer lead times on marketing and in some cases more productive investment of our publishing resources. In short, we need to start earlier and focus more" said John Riccitiello. Now this makes me believe that they waited until their holiday 'intake' was in and then decided it would be better to delay the release of The Sims 3 in the hopes of getting more sales later in the year when everyone has recovered from holiday spending and when hopefully the economy picks up again.
