OK, this is completely by request of Valpre that I share these. (as well as a stalling tactic to keep me from having to illustrate the second one.)
These are little bedtime stories that I made into a book for some first-time grandma's that I work with. I did the first one, "Goodnight, Logan" as a gift for a lady that did me a huge favor, and I didn't have the money to buy her something nice to pay her back.
Then the other lady found out she was next on the Grandma-to-be list and let me know there'd better be a book for her, too.
So, here they are. I know, not my usual fare, but hey, I like to keep people guessing! It helps to know that instead of "grandma", one lady calls herself "meme" and the other "nonna"
"Goodnight, Logan"
Little Logan, Sleepy Boy
It’s time to climb the stairs,
Little Logan, Sleepy Boy,
It’s time to say your prayers!
It’s time to close your sleepy eyes
And have some happy dreams.
Of shooting stars, of fancy cars
Of magic and moonbeams!
Now snuggle in, my sleepy boy,
Let Meme tuck you in.
She’ll wrap you up all warm and tight,
Your blankie at your chin.
Now it’s time to go to sleep,
A little at a time,
So Little Logan, close your eyes,
While Meme reads this rhyme.
Goodnight hair, you’ve spent all day,
So wonderful and red,
Now off you go, it’s time to dream,
Lay down your sleepy head.
Goodnight ears, you’ve listened well
To all your Meme said.
You helped our Logan be so good,
But now it’s time for bed.
Goodnight eyes, you’ve seen so much,
But now it’s time to sleep.
So close your eyes, and think fun thoughts,
Of happy jumping sheep!
Goodnight nose, it’s time for bed,
You’ve worked so hard today!
You’ve smelled flowers and food and lots of things,
Now sleep is on the way!
Goodnight smile, you’re day is done,
You’ve smiled, and smiled some more.
Your smile makes your Meme glad
But now it’s time to snore!
Goodnight arms, you’ve played so much,
Touched fur and toys and bugs.
My favorite job you’ve done all day,
Is giving Meme hugs!
Goodnight belly, warm and full,
Of pizza and of pickles!
You’ve done your job, since you’re the place
Where Meme puts her tickles!
Goodnight knees, you worked so hard
You crawled and helped me play,
But now you’re done, it’s sleepy time,
You’re finished for the day!
Goodnight toes, your day is done,
You’ve played in grass and dirt,
And Meme’s here to give a kiss
Whenever you get hurt.
Little Logan, Sleepy Boy,
It’s time for happy dreams,
Of shooting stars, of fancy cars
Of magic and moonbeams!
"How Much Does Nonna Love Me?"
Count the stars up in the sky
Count the whiskers on a cat
Count the clouds as they drift by
Nonna loves you more than that.
Count the flowers in your yard
Count the grass that grows
Count the angels as they guard
Nonna loves you more than those.
Count the crayons in the box
Count the toys upon the floor
Count the ticking of the clocks
Nonna loves you even more.
Count the leaves up in the trees
Count the ones that fall
Count the stripes on all the bees
Nonna loves you most of all
Count the Froggies in the creek
Count the fishies in the sea
Count the mousies as they squeak
Nonna loves you, yes sir-ee!
So hold your arms out open wide
Wider, big and fat
As far apart as all outside
Nonna loves you more than that!
Now wouldn't these be better if they were about monsters? Lol!
