Jill asked the question I was going to ask about the mozzies! Sounds like y'all are having a good time, Jo. It would be nice to get away from my everyday, boring routine for awhile, but then again, I'm a homebody so I'm okay with that too...lol

I'm a homebody too. I guess we are getting about as many nice things as we are bad. The Power House Museum was great. It has a lot of hands on things to do. Which is why I wanted to take the kids. There was a fairy garden with touchable playable things. They have a back To the 80's theme on now and we got to sit and play some old style video games like space invaders. Dh has taken the kids to the pool so I have some peace and quiet time now. Out on the playground I got to hear this American boy talking to another kid saying he was from Settaly (sp?) I loved the accent! But the traffic is HORRIBLE down here. Thier non peak hour is Brisbanes peak hour. Although it's still Aus, it's kind of a bit of a culture shock. People seem different, more selfish or "large city-its" On the roads they don't let you in when you're trying to change lanes, in Brissy they do. They charge more for everything and they are meaner with the pizza toppings too! Probably it would be a great time if our kids didn't fight so much.

LOL... never heard of Settaly and I can't figure out what it is by that spelling. American accents vary GREATLY, depending on what area you're from, so actually there is not just one American accent. Your deal with culture shock is the same here too, Jo. People's actions, attitudes, etc are quite different from one region to the next in The States as well. It's probably that way everywhere.

Haha, selfish city people? Oh yeah, you get that everywhere, even in STL (not a major metropolitan city). I have a normal mid-western accent (the plain, boring one), but my mom has a friend from New York, who has some amazing speech!

Lol, no American accent is 'plain and boring' to me. Well we went to the zoo today, got to see about half. Took a lot of figuring out. Some of the car parks here charge an arm and a leg. We found this place under a hotel for only $16 the other day so we went back there, then walked, then caught the monorail. Kids loved that, then took the farry so the kids got to go under the Sydney harbour bridge and past the opera house. There was going to be a sky cable up to the top of the zoo but they shut it due to the wind. They have a lift to about half way. Then we used the stairs some and said that was high enough, lol. Toronga zoo is on the side of a hill overlooking Sydney harbour. Coming back this stupid GPS of ours led us wrong again. Wait till I tell you about what it did after we left the airport the first day we got here. It has a habbit of saying 'turn right in 100 meters' when the actual turning is in about 10 meters! So we missed it and ended up going down a peek hour toll road. But we're back now and even though it's late dh took them to the pool seeing it's the last day here. A couple more would have been nice, but we are kind of broke now anyway lol.

LOL... sucks when the vacation money runs out! Gosh, it's been years since I've been to a zoo. Sounds like fun! That GPS sure sounds wonky, though. Lot of good it does if it causes you to miss things.

Plus it was a toll road! We had to pay $4.50! Sarah has named 'her' (the GPS) Dumb bell so I said it can be short for Dumbella.

Our GPS is called Sabrina (my parents named it that for no apparent reason) and she likes telling us that our 'Final Destination' is a field. This has happened about 8 times out of 10 when we go to somewhere in the countryside. Stupid Sat Navs. So are you flying back tomorrow then Jo? Sounds like you've had a nice time and done all the 'Syndey-ish' things; that opera house does look amazing in photos and films.

We came back to the Gold Coast yesterday afternoon. We decided to stay one extra day here on the coast. Dh is taking the kids to Dream World and one of the water parks. Lol so it's all day on the merry go round and toddler splash area for him. He has an annual pass ticket for himself and DD for the 3 major parks, so he just has to pay for ds. I am staying here. Our room has a spa bath and I plan to take an epson salt spa for my poor muscels (That zoo ouch) and play sims in peace and quiet. ;D

Oh, a spa bath sounds sooooo good! I think I'd opt for that choice as well! ;D

I'm glad I'm not the only hermit. I said to dh, now this is my idea of a holiday; no kids, my own spa, coffee, lunch ready made in the mini fridge and my sims. ;D I might go take an afternoon nap.

Oh heck yeah! Sounds good to me. Of course, if I were you, I toss in going to read the two chapters of my story you seemed to have overlooked as well.
