Today . . .

Today is the anniversary of my dad's death. *sigh* Although he died in 1998, sometimes it doesn't seem that long ago and I still miss him. He was sick for a long time with cancer and did his share of suffering, so I know he is in a better place now, even though it still sometimes hurts to know he's gone.

The hardest part sometimes is that he died only two days before my birthday. Then again I think of how good it was that he didn't wait exactly two more days to pass. Today is actually my step brother's birthday though. That fact sort of makes the point hit home about how lucky I was that it didn't happen on mine.

Ah well, I always feel sort of weird on this day. This time, however, I felt like expressing my feelings out loud and so I did. Thanks for putting up with my wild rantings... if you could even stand to read all this...lol

Yeah... it's easier than it used to be and a lot of times I don't give much thought anymore, but then again, there are others when I feel a bit down over it.

It's especially strange this year because both my babies left to go back to school. *sniff* lol One yesterday and the other today.

Tina, I can defenitely understand the pain. My grandmother passed away two weeks ago tody. She and I were very close. But I also understand that she is in a better place now. She fought emphysema and arthritis for many years. She was a very strong and intellegent woman. But she is where she always wanted to go. I believe that she is with her father and mother in Heaven.

*hug* Tina, these anniversaries are always hard aren't they? My great aunt who was really close to me passed away ten years ago next month, and my grandad eight years ago next month. February is a difficult month. But yeah, we have to think that they're at peace and happy with their other relatives. *hug*

I know from our families recent loss, that sometimes months can feel like weeks, so I can understand how hard it can be, even after all these years.

I'm sorry I missed this. We're all here with you, Tina. My dad died almost 10 yrs ago, and it was a long illness, so we knew it was coming. Even now, I'll hear a song on the radio or someone will say one of his favorite sayings and it feels like he just passed all over again.
