Sorry gals...looks like you have to wait a while for this one. Error code 5's back and I think because I put in mansion & garden stuff since most of your simmies couldn't work without it. I've just tried to upload your surprise and what do you know? I have to sort this error code 5 mess. I hate EA!

Ah yeah, the patch doesn't work for M&G. Someone posted a tutorial for a work-around that you have to do to get it to work. Stupid EAxis!  They're always breaking their own stuff!  Heheh.. holley!  You could always do it the 'easy way', like I did with my last two chapters. Just make a thread here in the Photoshoot (pic spam) or the story forum, depending on which sort it is. Of course then you have to upload pics to photobucket, and then copy and paste any text, but it's not so bad.  |

I'm  inside cos of error code 5. I wanna die . So I uninstalled the mansion & garden stuff without backing up my game (I know, that was pretty stupid on my part) with the hope that it'll get rid of error code 5. When I go back to Belladonna Cove to try and upload your surprise I realise everything's gone; the pics are gone, all the hot smexilicious simmies are gone and it broke my heart and I want to cry so badly right now...I have to start all over again and to make matters worse, the screenshots for Chapter 14 of Unforgettable are also gone Well at least I backed up my game about a week & half ago, so I've restored that and Statham Island's not too badly affected but it will be a while yet for your surprise and for Chapter 14. I knew there was something weird about Mondays and this whole saga just proved it P.S. I posted this on status update so don't be alarmed if you think you're having a touch of de ja vu |

Oh no, Val! Not making backups RIGHT BEFORE installing expansions is a HUGE no-no! That really sucks. It's a bummer that doing a restore to an earlier point doesn't affect the documents folder, so that wouldn't help. I have Vista Ultimate and it allows restoring a previous version of a folder, so that may come in handy in this case to, at least, get pictures back. I feel for you, girl. *HUG* |

I am going to back up my the Sims 2 folder to my Portable Hard Drive right NOW!... Well, after my music finishes copying.
This scares me.

Awh no! Poor you. *Hugs* You must, must make a makeup before uninstalling. I would just forget about the exchange. Live Journal is a fine place to upload to. No way I would uninstall a game I paid for to use the stupid exchange. The only draw back is losing that nice click over ability. Apart from that the exchange has no benefit these days. But if you desperately want click over there is always slide share. At least you had a backup from a week and a half ago, although I know that bites to have to go back even that far and lose all your lovely pictures.  |

Wake up, Jo! I don't think she needs to make a makeup!  She actually SHOULD have a backup before INSTALLING. A backup made before uninstalling would have done NO GOOD (well, except for the preservation of her pics) because once she installed M&G, she could NEVER play anything she had while having it installed because the game format had changed. It even warns you of that when you are getting ready to install/uninstall an expansion in a popup box. I was dumb enough to not make a backup ONE TIME, and that was with M&G on Chrissy's computer. Like they say, it only takes ONE TIME, because the ONE TIME I didn't make a backup when installing an expansion, the stupid game lost ALL of poor Chrissy's cc! I could have slapped myself silly for that. I knew better too, but with all the previous backups I have made, NOTHING like that had ever happened before...lol. It also shows that if something CAN go wrong, it WILL.  Ah well, sleep well, Val! It won't feel so bad once everything's straightened out. Like Jo said, at least you did have a backup that wasn't horrible old. |

I am so, so sorry! There is so much I could say about EA & their shoddy work,but really all they care about is putting half assed games out,that devoted fans of the Sims fix, for free! while they keep raking in the money, but still that does not help you!  ~ I hope this helps a little! ~PS~ Thanks Lynda
