I'm so pissed if I was home (on the island I grew up on) I would probably be slapping the crap outta my uncle right now. He has a slight mental problem, not enough to be considered a retard but he's just super slow and doesn't think like normal person. Like logic doesn't work for him or something.
OK this is why I'm so freakin angry that I'm foaming at the mouth. He lives with my grandmother, they had three dogs. One of the dogs has an obsession with killing small things so he killed my grand aunt's cat and one of my cousins' cat.
What does Uncle butthole do? Take the dog down a dirt trail in the back of the houses that leads to an old library and strangles the dog (Buster) with his chain.
My grandmother, mother and aunt have been looking for Buster since Monday. In fact my grandmother took another one of the dogs (Blackie) down that same trail but didn't go all the way to the library, and she was calling for Buster and was hoping that Blackie would find him. Blackie probably did but because Buster was dead, he couldn't follow her back to my grandmother or bark (duh).
That damn uncle always does the stupidest friggin' thing!!! There's a dump on the island where people take dogs they can't take care of anymore. It isn't one of those places that's so dirty that inhaling would poison you, in fact it's rather clean and there's at least about fifteen or more strays living there. He could have taken Buster there. Or he could have abandoned buster in another settlement (where more strays are).
But no Uncle Too-Stupid-to-function goes and kills the dog! Ugh! crap! He's the one who brought Buster home in the first place, we're always telling him "don't bring another dog in the yard" (cause they live on a hill and all of my great grandparents' children has their own house, some of their children decided to build on the hill) so there's always a lot of cats or dogs around.
I mean, my cousin had a dog that used to chase people and he carried his dog to his mother's place.
Man! I'm so mad, and I was already pissed off at Sudoku so when my mom told me that...I'm going to pace now...

Ohmygawd, your uncle would be friggin annoying! I'm so sorry to hear about this, your uncle needs some help. How big is your island? Do they have an animal shelter? If so, see what the charges are against killing a dog! Then you should tell your uncle about those charges. Gosh, it makes me sick to think about an animal dying like that. I'm sorry, Pixx!

OMG, Pixx that is horrible! I don't blame you for being so upset. There are many ways of getting rid of an unwanted animal; strangling should NOT be an option! How horrible for the poor dog. It cannot have been a pleasant way to die, not that there IS a pleasant way. Lots of hugs coming your way from me.

Thats so messed up! Why should he KILL a dog for something so miniscule. And why couldn't he just abandon it, it would've been better than strangling it!
Stupid Uncle.

They don't have an animal shelter, the island is 1 by 12 (miles). Sawyer you may not believe this but he has the comprehension skills of a 5 year old and he's illiterate. Thing is in the bahamas there aren't any animal laws unless the animal is licensed and because it's his dog well...the law has no say.
Like I said, he's an idiot. Some people act then think, he acts and never thinks. My aunt decided to take him to the capital (on another island) for a psychiatric evaluation (poor psychiatrist...having to deal with him).

;D Here in Australia he would get 10 years(that is just for cruelty to an animal!),but because of his metal probes he would be committed & get the help he would need to live a better life! I am so sorry for your family, was he born to elderly parents?

Nope, he's my grandma's youngest but she was in her early thirties when he was born. Actually what happened to him was when he was a kid my mom was babysitting him and some twins, he was about three, and she had her arms full (a twin in each) and a bus was coming and he ran across the road. Bus nearly hit him but miraculously he was under the bus, the wheels passed on both sides of him. But he probably didn't realize he was underneath the bus and when he raised his head he banged it pretty hard.
LOL@Sawyer he is a handful ;D

Wow! What a sad story! {{{HUGS}}} I'm never for abandoning pets, but I'd have to say I'd do that before I'd kill one. My Ex husband (mental condition debateable) shot a dog he had when he divorced his first wife, because neither one could take it to their new place. If he'd have told me that little story earlier, I'd never have married him. He couldn't figure out why I was so upset. He thought he did the dog a favor so it wouldn't 'face the cruelty in the world on his own'. Ugh!!!!

Ugh, that's sad, Jill. My neighbors have like 30 dogs (ARGHH!) and one keeps coming into our yard. My mom complained to the neighbor about this and he said, "Well, I can't control it!" and then some stupid crap about blahblahblah. Now my step-dad declared that if it comes into our yard again, he'll shoot it. I just want it out of here, not to be dead!

IDK people always thought I was weird because I got so emotional about animal's deaths. I had quite a few dogs and whenever one of them died I'd get so worked up that I'd get sick. My present pooch is a shih tzu named Timbi...he's spoiled rotten and has a quick temper. Mom and I are trying to break him out of the habit of freaking out when people are leaving (he attacks anyone who tries to exit our house but he's always happy to let you in).
I have issues with death and suffering. I usually get depressed for a few days when somebody I knew (or some animal I was attached to) dies or is sick so whenever somebody (or animal...) passes, my mom always has to be the one to break the news to me.
My cousin told me that I'm retarded... ;D

He thought he did the dog a favor so it wouldn't 'face the cruelty in the world on his own'. Ugh!!!! I think it depends where you come from. I know plenty of farmers who would say something similar. To them shooting a dog is just what you do. Like instead of taking it to a vet to put down. It upsets me, but at the same time I've learnt to be ok with those guys because although they see things differently then I do, I know they are decent men, just a bit to tough. They probably wouldn't hesitate to save a child from a storm drain or come over and plough the padock for a mate who was in the hospital etc. But I certainly wouldn't want to be married to any of them, because they are insensitive to things like shooting dogs or birds. But I don't think badly of them anymore like I did when I first moved to the country. Of course your ex may not be like that.

The farmers are manly men exercising their masculinity in a way that makes them seem insensitive to death of an animal but display their compassionate sides whenever a little kid gets stuck in storm drains or a comrade has been admitted to the hospital *scribbles on paper then muses over how smart my statement was* ;D
I have an aunt in particular who quotes something from the bible that says that animals have no soul so they should be treated differently than people. I couldn't help but list the Beatitudes and highlighted COMPASSION (?)...but of course the Bible scholar had some smart remark... *rolls eyes*
UPDATE: Apparently my uncle set it up for four of my cousins to kill the dog, I'm on the phone with my mom now. He said he couldn't do it, but he told them too!!! Why would he tell them too? I'm probably going to spend a night in jail when I got home because my pistivity is gonna get the best of me and I'll friggin beat every-damn-body. I mean, come on!!! One of my cousins is 21, 17, 12 and 9. All boys exercising their masculinity. The 12 year old confessed to hanging him. That just AAAARRRGGG!!! I'm going home and hurting people...[/B]
